Weston Hospicecare gives palliative care to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset and surrounding areas, completely free of charge.
We are the only provider of adult hospice care services in the area, serving a population of more than 170,000 people.
Weston Hospicecare delivers expert care from our base, Jackson-Barstow House where there is a 10-bedroom inpatient unit (IPU) and a day and wellbeing centre. We have a team of community nurse specialists who care for patients and their families, in their homes and a specially trained Family Support Team.
Only 18% of our income is provided by the government and we simply cannot provide our vital services without support.
Becoming Captain's Charity would coincide with Weston Hospicecare's 35th anniversary. It would help mark this milestone and ensure we can make a difference to thousands of people in our local community - improving and expanding our provision and, crucially, giving life to days.
"The Hospice isn't somewhere you come to die, it's a place you come to live."
Peter, IPU patient, 2023
